Paragliding and Hang Gliding, Snowdonia
The geology of Snowdonia make it a world class location to fly. There are gliding sites in Harlech and Llanfair which are described in the Snowdonia Active publication Para Gliding and Hang Gliding in Snowdonia guide (written by David Gale) as below
Harlech
This is a ridge about a mile long running from Harlech to Talsarnau. It is also possible to connect with the next ridge and waft off to Barmouth. There is good thermalling in Spring at this site, but it's prone to sea breezes in Summer.
Harlech Cliff, Llanfair
This is a sea-cliff site with an unconventional take-off area. There are risks of rotor on take-off (from the bottom wall). The cliff/slope is soarable along to Harlech itself on a good day, with the possibility of joining the main Harlech site.
Visit the Snowdonia Active website for more information about gliding locations in the area.
