Approximately 45 minutes drive from Harlech, Indigo Jones Slateworks is possibly the last surviving example of a fully operational Slateworks in North Wales.
Established in 1861 the workshop is a thriving local business, supplying slate products all over the world.
Discover the secret of of Welsh slate. A self-guided tour includes a video presentation, exhibitions on geology, history of the slate industry, calligraphy and lettercutting.
Try your hand at calligraphy and engraving on a piece of slate that you get to keep as a souvenir.
There is a superb slate craft showroom where you can see a wide range of high quality slateware produced by Indigo Jones, as well as other welsh craft products such as pottery, glassware and prints. Welsh Slate nameplates and plaques can be engraved to order.
