This course is suitable for those who wish to gain the award to supervise a group on single pitch crags and climbing walls. Between training and assessment candidates are expected to gain extensive supervisory and personal climbing experience.

You must be 18 years of age and a member of a Mountaineering Council. Prior to registration you should have a minimum of twelve months rock climbing experience

This is a residential course in student accommodation. Students’ arrive on the evening of the 29th. They will have access to a small kitchen, laundry and drying room. There will be a maximum of 4 people on each course

Single Pitch Assessment

The MLTE Single Pitch Award (SPA) is a 2-day assessment course. Prior to attending an assessment course candidates must have successfully completed an MLTE endorsed training course, assisted with at least 20 supervised/instructed sessions at a variety of venues, and completed a minimum of 40 hand placed leader outdoor climbs to severe grade and above.

We recommended a minimum of 6 months development time between training and assessment and candidates must hold a current First Aid certificate

Multi-Pitch Climbing Introduction

The course consists entirely of guided and instructional climbs of numerous pitches and is suitable for those with some climbing experience who want to discover skills for multi-pitch climbing. Students will learn to choose appropriate routes, preparation for multi-pitch climbs, and all the skills needed on the route itself. This is a two-day course with accommodation in student halls.
