You can fish off the beach in Harlech and sea fishing trips are available in Barmouth.

Llyn Cwm Bychan is a naturally formed lake that holds brown trout and a fish known locally as "the red bellied char".

In the Mawddach river you can fish for wild trout, salmon and sea trout.

Llyn Tegid, located outside Bala is the largest natural lake in Wales and is the only lake in Wales where the gwyniad, a plankton feeder is to be found, and here you can also fish for perch, roach, pike, trout, grayling, eels and salmon during the season.

If you are planning on game or coarse fishing, you must have an appropriate permit. These can be purchased from fishing shops and fisheries. You must also be a national permit holder, and these are on sale in Post Offices and on the Environment Agency Website.
